Description

Welcome to 1229 N 5th Street Unit 2, the home you have been waiting for. It checks all the boxes with its timeless design, three spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, massive roof deck, just over 3 years remaining on the tax abatement and your very own assigned parking spot! Step inside this bi-level condo, which feels more like a rowhouse in design with an open concept kitchen, dining and living area highlighted by an oversized eastern facing window for lots of natural light. The kitchen features sleek espresso colored solid wood cabinetry accented beautifully by a classic stone subway tile backsplash and neutral colored granite waterfall style countertops all complimented by GE stainless steel appliances (including a five burner gas range!). The design of this kitchen is U-shaped creating the perfect amount of prep space while also providing space for countertop dining at the large breakfast bar. There is also plenty of space for a separate dining table should you opt to have one. The living area itself easily fits large-scale furniture and has a cozy vibe thanks to a smartly added custom gas fireplace with a mantel. Tucked behind the kitchen is a full size bathroom and a guest bedroom with a large closet. The size of this particular bedroom gives it great versatility of use as it can function as a den, home office, guest room or anything else you need. Throughout the main floor and the entirety of the home you will find mid-tone hardwood floors that have been lovingly kept in gleaming condition. Upstairs you will find the primary suite with an en suite bathroom and another good-sized bedroom, full bathroom, and a laundry room. The primary suite easily accommodates a king sized bed and has a walk-in closet for all your wardrobe storage dreams. The primary bathroom features a walk-in shower with a rainfall showerhead complimented by classic white wall tile paired with black small square shower floor tile and finished with a seamless glass shower door. There is a large, white double vanity for extra storage. Down the hall is the third bedroom with western facing windows for sunset views. Conveniently located between the bedrooms is the laundry space with a stackable washer and dryer. Accessible via an interior stairwell from the upstairs level, the roof deck is a true urban oasis spanning the entire length of the home with stunning panoramic views of the Philly skyline. Currently, the space is divided into a dining and a seating area perfect for lounging/ embracing outdoor living all year long. This home is part of a well-managed condo association with low monthly condo fees and is pet-friendly with its own private dog park. It is close to local favorites like Helm BYOB, Taco Riendo, Punch Buggy Brewing Company and greenspace at Cruz Playground, and it is also a short walk to both Northern Liberties proper and all the businesses along Fishtown’s Frankford Avenue corridor.

What Locals Say about Olde Kensington

  • Trulia User
"Some people seem to pick up their dog’s poop. But, then again, some people seem not to pick up their dog’s poop. These are the two options that I have seen in this community regarding dogs and their poop and the owners picking up after them."

"I do not have a dog, but in this area people always pick up their dog poop and if I had a dog, I would love to walk around the neighborhood with the dog"

"Nice restaurants and bars, up and coming. Community feel. Pretty safe. Nice parks. Usually there is parking on most steers. Lots of places to walk - decently clean but there is sidewalk trash. I have enjoyed living here. A nice little pocket of the city. "

"I work from home but getting anywhere from here is super easy. Buses, septa, and regional rail from Temple."

  • Nina B.
"Before we were invaded by all this new construction and new people this neighborhood was quiet it was parking everywhere and it never took more than 5 mins to get from point A to point B. If you love living in a “refurbished neighborhood” where they are taking over and making our own neighborhood unrecognizable loud dogs everywhere and pooping in front of your house and the owner not cleaning up behind their pet or neighbors having their trash everywhere than this is the neighborhood for you "

"This area has it all -- cool restaurants and cafes like LaColombe, Frankford Hall, Reanimator, etc., easy parking, walkable to Super Fresh and the Piazza, easy access to Girard Ave. trolley, Market-Frankford el, and several bus routes. You would think residents, old and new, would treat their investments here with pride. Unfortunately, most residents care little about the curb appeal of their homes. Trash and other debris line the sidewalks and gutters. Leaves pile up and are never picked up. Weeds are allowed to grow knee-high in summer. Residents allow circulars to pile up on their stoops and simply step over them. Residents put out recycling carelessly, allowing it to spill or be wind-strewn into the streets. And no one seems to care. Until this attitude changes this area will never be considered "nice.""
