2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA select few of the teachers and paraprofessionals that work in this school seem to have a superiority complex, like to invalidate their students' feelings just so they can further validate their own, and so on, as there are many, many problems with this school. They think they are better than the students, and therefore can talk disrespectfully to them. Some talk very raucously to the students, and it is ridiculous. Five feet apart from the student and they are screaming at them for something so trivial, such as walking together with another student. This can create multiple problems. This can cause even more conflict than what was necessary and can prolong it even more, because no one wants their day ruined by getting screamed at and having a scene rise from the conflict. Not only that, but when the student gets sent to the office for disciplinary action caused by speaking up and defending themselves? At this point, FHS should put more focus towards staff-student development. Some of these teachers/para's I have talked about, need to have a meeting on how to be respectful to their own students. On another note, there are some amazing teachers/para's in this school. They actually validate their students' feelings, wants, and needs. one example, is an interaction I witnessed (similar scenario, different outcome. Only because of one variable), between teacher-student. Student was walking in the hall, teacher asked politely (in an indoor, 5 feet away manner), where their destination was. After the student told them where they were going, that was the end of it. No further altercations, no disrespect between the student or between the teacher. This is how it needs to be. Miraculously enough, if FHS' schoolboard wasn't a decaying joke, maybe it would already be this way. The only reason I would ever recommend attending FHS, is a complete counterexample of what my argument is about. The staff. The staff in FHS (except for the few bad apples) are amazing, very loving, and are attentive to their students' needs, not just as a student, but as a person. There are many kindhearted teachers I know, who keep water, and snacks in their room, in the instance of a hungry student showing up that day. Now I'm just giving one good example of the good will some of our teachers have, just as I gave an example of the select horrible staff that we have as well. I wish I could explain more, in detail, about the staff at FHS, but I am running out of space to continue.Parent Review1y ago - Henry Wilson Memorial School
