6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been at this school since kindergarten and is now a 3rd grader. I can't be more pleased with the staff and principal at this school. They encourage classes for parent involvement to help students reach their goals.Parent Review6y ago - Garvey (Richard) Intermediate School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll test prep all the time an AMAZINGLY WELL FUNDED pe department. My son has had 4-5 long term subs in English ……..the first one said at open house that they didn’t know what they were doing because there were no lesson plans. It’s March, and he hasn’t read a book in English or performed a play in drama. On back to school night I had to correct students running down the hall, shouting profanities, and talking so loud I could not hear the teacher presentations……. without a blink from their teachers..Many of our friends got into Monterey highlands to avoid the school. I see my optimism was a huge mistake. Garvey has zero continuation of learning from the elementary schools as it goes into full-on test prep at the expense of a worthwhile education..Garvey has always been a school that students must make it through before getting into the Alhambra district. And I’ve taught 7th grade for 23 years and graduated from Garvey.Parent Review1mo ago - Check out schools near 119 W Marshall St #C.
