As stated in previous reviews, this is a good school for certain students but not all students. Students who report inappropriate behaviors are punished and revictimized by the very adults who are supposed to be safe. Bathroom policies are very clear to students to use "biologically assigned gender" bathrooms further stigmatized and contributing to poor student mental health. Student Services is nonexistent as the deans have no training and poor skills to support students (likely no interest). Test scores and reputation do not make up for damaging student well-being.

This school is great for a lot of standard - high achieving kids. It's designed to cater to those families and students. As a former student, it was a good, safe learning environment that I look back on fondly. When I sent my student there, it was the opposite. I witnessed staff berating students out in the open, administration yelling at students and classrooms, and staff poorly supervising students, among other things. My own student was traumatized by being there and carries that trauma with them in their education. There is a male staff member who followed a female student into the girls' bathrooms and the admin didn't bat an eye. Special education is a joke and punishes kids for their different abilities. Inappropriate touch also occurred unchecked in classrooms among students.

My son is just finishing his Sophomore year at Mounds View HS. I have had consistent contact with his School Dean, Ryan P., who has been amazing for the past 2 years. Anytime there is a concern with anything, Ryan is right there to support us through to a resolution. My son has always felt comfortable reaching out whenever he needed anything or had questions and so have I. I never hear about anyone bullying my son or his friends and they seem to be comfortable when I drop them off each morning. My son has a 504B plan, which means that the teachers are aware that he has dyslexia (diagnosed when he was 5 years old). This is an academically challenging school, which concerned me initially, but after 2 years here my son is an A/B student and is taking Advanced Placement classes. I am so happy that we decided for him to attend Mounds View HS.
