9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageArcadia high school is a relatively good public school with an adequate amount of resources that prepares high school students for college. However, there seems to be this toxic culture in this school. As someone who moved to Arcadia from China (which is normal due to high amount of Asian population in this community), I felt like I was never able to mix in this school. Half of school population is either Chinese or Taiwanese descendants, but apparently these Asian American students looked down on students like me who are recent immigrants and speak English with an unavoidable accent. Arcadia is a community that receives a vast amount of immigration due to its location in Los Angeles. However, I never felt welcomed in this school. I rarely met anyone who is willing to my friend or listen to my stories. High school students create hierarchical social ladders in their community, and I was unwillingly dumped at the bottom of the food chain. This puts me to disadvantage in club activities and extracurriculars (which are important for college application) because people don't even bother to socialize with me. I eventually made some friends after reinventing myself, which was a complete blood bath. Arcadia High school is a place that someone people went for 4 years and felt like they never belonged. I believe a lot of alums share the same feelings as me. Their microagressive condescendence to recent immigrants from China stems from school to the town itself. 8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen I was a kid, I used to look forward to holidays and breaks from school. But my son is different – he really wishes he could go to school every day. He’s been at Longley Way for two years now, and he really likes his teachers. We’ve met some of them, and they’re really good with kids, which is what we wanted. We thought about moving to a different school, but our son loves his friends, his teachers, and Longley Way so much that we can’t. I guess we’ll be staying in the area until he graduates, and we’re happy with that.Parent Review6mo ago

"It’s a safe city for children minus no street lights and sidewalks cutting in an out. I don’t have children myself but I see lots of children toys at houses on my morning walks but I don’t see neighbors children playing together (not negatively but I grew up on a dead end and all the children played together). Drivers typically drive the speed limit but the inconsistency of 2-way stops and 4-way stops “confuse” some drivers so be aware. Great for walking! Lovely breeze. Large lots with houses. I wouldn’t change my childhood home but if I could have chosen a second it would have been around here."

"If four years ago this neighborhood was nice, back then neighbors still talk to each other, but now, Too much theft, everyone afraid to stranger whom ring the bell, now it’s not safe to leave package in front door, "

"it is pretty save to live in this neighborhood. most of the new comers to the city does not pickup their own dogs poo. that is a sad new. the city is very beautiful. "

"The area is very peaceful and quiet. I have a here my whole life. Neighbors are always very friendly but many of them keep to themselves. In the event of an emergency… First responders are quick to respond. There is convenience in the city location as were located near several freeways and malls… Retail and grocery are also not very far and actually within walking distance. "
