Everything is great, maybe the safety isn’t, there aren’t much teachers around that notice the fighting going on in the bathrooms and hallways. A lot of these kids think they own the school and deserve to be disciplined. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has been very effective for my kids. My daughter graduated with honors and a certified nursing assistant license. She just finished her first year at a local university and is almost a Junior. They emphasize dual enrollment with the local community College instead of AP just because the dual enrollment credit is guaranteed college credit with the UNC system. My son is currently a Sophomore at this High School and is enrolled in both High school and college classes. 2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have no issue with any teachers we have encountered throughout the 2 years my daughter spent at ORA. However, there is an extreme lack of support from administrators. My daughter was physically harmed twice by the same student and there was no action whatsoever taken to separate the child and my daughter so that the instances would not continue to occur. Each time this child injured my daughter it was completely unprovoked. We made the decision to completely remove my daughter from ORA after my daughter was STRANGLED by the same student. She is only 7 years old. I escalated this incident to the Craven County Board of Education after I got no where with the principal. This school completely failed my daughter and failed to give her a safe learning environment. She wants and deserves to be at school, however, it is clearly not safe. She no longer gets to go to school for her safety, while the student who is attacking other children gets to stay. Family involvement is mandatory, which I love. I am so glad my son had the chance to take on this challenge, and it is so won't to watch him continue to work hard and thrive. "Beautiful, well-maintained neighborhood with extremely friendly folks. Wide streets for little children to play, with no through-traffic. Larger homes on the river made it one of the most desirable locations in the area."

"We have a great neighborhood made up of neighbors who care. During the hurricane people who stayed walked around to watch and check on other people’s houses, organized support to help clean up homes and yards, and kept neighbors informed of opportunities for support or assistance. "Great family oriented place to live. Owners even hand deliver Birthday cards to your appartment. Neighbors also keep an eye on each other when possible. All kids I have met have been very polite and respectful and very well behaved."
