"Close to downtown, but not a very educated population overall. Good for single people with a job downtown. Not for a family trying to raise kids. Also lots of city noises like emergency vehicles but that’s something you get use to. Also in some areas you hear the trains but that’s is also you can get use to. "

"Do not move here !! Unless you want to deal with people smoking in the hallways or deal with people throwing trash in the hallways or people blasting music until the sun comes up . Let’s talk about the mice that the have there and don’t do anything about or how about the old appliances they have in these apartments that they refuse to replace if you love that then this is the place for you "

"Nothing I felt/ feel safe going to. Violence has risen here in the last couple of years. I would never let my children outside to play without supervision. This area used to be "Grand" many years ago, but in ensuing years has really gone downhill. It's actually sad. School system isn't as good as touted either. "

"I lived across Whitney Ave on orange street growing up and me and my cousin would walk up to east rock and go shopping at the little grocery. We did our laundry at suds and went to church on Lawrence st. We would go to state st and check out the little shops. It was a nice place to live. Unfortunately the area got a bad name because of a few isolated incidents!"
