3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended ZES and my three grandchildren as well. Two of my grandchildren are still enrolled here. The teachers and staff are excellent and very caring. I highly recommend this school and feel that my family members have done very well here and had excellent instruction. The teachers are always available for questions or concerns and the principal, Mr. Newkirk, is very hands on with the kids and knows most of them by name. Teachers will rarely listen to or try to understand a student's point of view. The administration will ignore many student concerns without any investigation unless parents interfere. Many of the work handed is just busy work and rarely has an impact on student learning. There are some helpful teachers but there are even more cruel teachers. It's incredibly hard to fix grades that a student didn't deserve without parental interference. This school is a college prep school so there is not an emphasis in the Arts, but more a focus on core curriculum. "We enjoyed living in this neighborhood for a long time. It's a great place for kids to grow up and get to know the neighbors. The schools are within 3-4 miles of the community. You get the best of both worlds - small town community with downtown Raleigh just over 15 miles away."

"Short drive to major shopping areas, restaurants, work and nightlife. 10 minutes to Mudcat's Baseball Stadium. Quick access to IH-540, 440 and 40. Right on Beach Highway 64. Excellent mid-point from Raleigh to Rocky Mount and IH-95"
