Compound From Hit Movie ‘The Big Lebowski’ on the Market

Movie sets are often fake and manufactured to silver screen perfection on a sound stage in the middle of industrial Los Angeles. But sometimes they’re not, and the real-life homes that serve as the all-important location are owned by regular Joes. We’ve seen some iconic movie homes go on the block, including the Home Alone house, the white picket fence house from Father of the Bride, and even the house from the Godfather.  But I digress. Let’s talk about “The Big Lebowski,” a cult film so engrained in American culture that it’s even spawned a 10-year-running, multi-day Lebowskifest, “A Celebration of All Things Lebowski.” Perhaps one of the fest’s attendees would be interested in owning “The Big Lebowski Compound,” the real location used for the classic film.  The Dude made it his home in the film, but in real life, the $2,295,000 Venice, California home consists of six 1 bedroom cottages on a 10,628 square foot lot. It’s all just blocks to the beach or Abbot Kinney. These historic, larger than average bungalows feature numerous upgrades, spacious side yards and garage parking. A six-figure renovation in 2005 includes a new main sewerline. Other features include a gated and lushly landscaped courtyard. The perfect location for a White Russian or two.
