Former lovebirds Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith — who split last June after 18 years of marriage — just sold their Hancock Park compound for $15.947 million. That’s quite a boost from the $4.2 million they bought it for back in 1999 when everything was peachy-keen on the highway of love. But things have changed, and the Working Girl actress and her hubby officially have a one-way ticket to Splitsville.
Built back in 1925 for real estate tycoon Isidor Eisner, Banderas’ and Griffith’s Italian Revival mansion was designed by British architect Gordon Kaufmann (you may know him from his previous work on a little something called the Hoover Dam). It’s an architectural gem on 1.5 acres of private, paparazzi-free space.
A long stone driveway leads up to the seven-bed, 10-bath home’s grand entry, while a two-story banquet hall and formal dining room with a coffered ceiling reveals a regal California aesthetic. The two-story kitchen is a dream for any aspiring chef, while the master wing is the perfect place to relax, with dressing rooms and double baths. A guest apartment provides a space for visitors, who will certainly want to pop by the 15,110-square-foot mansion for a stay. Additional luxuries include a paneled library, recording studio, gym and extensive security system.
Clearly, things are still friendly between Banderas and Griffith despite their split; the couple recently reunited at their daughter Stella’s high school graduation.
