There are a couple of different shopping centers in the Crestwood Villages. For the price range you are mentioning I believe Villages 1-4 all have homes that are within walking distances of shopping. To expand a little, if driving is a concern, there are bus stops in all the communities that can take homeowners to shopping. I hope you found this helpful. ... more

You can check with the town or city hall, either check online and look up the assessments or at the city hall itself in person, ask to see the tax card, it will show the owners name. If teh hous eis vacant you can check teh doors to see if an emergency contact is listed. once a bank owne dlisting is assigned to a broker, they usually post their info on the door as requested by the bank.

if you are interested in bank owned homes, please see my blog for tips and advice in looking for them and making an offer to get you the best price and terms.

If the property is not already listed (the listing agent will disclose that info in the listing), you can contact your real estate agent and they can do a title search and let you know very quickly.

Hi Tom! There are currently 19 units on the MLS for rent in the Whiting Adult Community area. The rents vary from $625 to $975 per month. Whiting is a great place to be-equally distant from Long Beach Island and the Seaside beaches, less than 10 mins from the county dog park, 5 mins from Harry Wright Lake (free concerts & fireworks in the summer!) and close to several shopping malls.
Also, homes in Crestwood Village start at $24,900 for a studio apartment-have you considered buying instead?
If you click on the web reference below it can link you to the MLS where you can explore whats available.
Give me a call if your interested in seeing the rentals or looking at a place to buy.

I wish I had that information.

The current market is tough. Yes. But it has shown signs of turing around so far this year. Now I do not mean that houses are flying off the MLS at 2005 prices. Sellers need to be realistic to the market conditions of today and price their homes accordingly.

If you can, hang on and be patient. I believe we are at the bottom, there is no place to go but up. Probably not the up we saw a few years ago, but up.

Dennis Nevius answered:
You really have to evaluate what your specific needs are. It is almost always a good time to invest in real estate. Real estate tends to remain constant with a slow steady increase in values if you buy smart. By smart, I mean you need to evaluate your specific area. Are you in one of those areas that are inflating their prices - for example - think about what happened in Las Vegas over the past few years. If you are in a stable market property values have remained fairly stable in pricing - then it is a great idea to invest in property as an investment. There are also other things to consider - will this property be rented and will it cash flow? I personally feel that a property needs to cash flow to be worth the money. Consider other things - how long do you plan to hold the property? Is it for retirement? and will you want to sell it then or are you planning on living on the proceeds from the rent? If you are thinking about investing- be sure you talk to your tax advisor as well as your investment advisor and get their take on it and then ask yourself - what do I really want from this investment and then make your final decision with all that in mind. Just remember - most real estate continues to increase in value while the stock market has not been so reliable over the long term. Good luck in your investments! ... more

Deborah Madey answered:
Hi,

I have done a few transacdtions in Whiting, both in the adult communties and single family homes that are not part of adult communities. Traveling up Route 70 toward the Parkway will provide more options for dining and recreation. There are a few parks and lakes that are great, and several new things are planned for the area. You won't find the density that you will find in Brick, but you can reach areas nearby to Whiting that have more shopping, dining, etc.

Where do you live now? What do you like and dislike about it? That might proviede some guidance in comparisons. Will you be commuting to work? Where?

Are you looking at adult communities or not? If so, be aware that Crestwood Villages 1-4 are co-ops and Villages 5-7 are deeded property. Of course, there are other communties, and wonderful SF homes, also.
