Have you tried Oakwood Temporary Residences? They do short term leases. There is one in Mountain View for sure. There might be one on the upper side of Stanford in one of the upper peninsula cities. Not sure. But I do know the Mountain View one is nice as we stayed there when we relocated here several years ago.

All of the homes on Stanford campus are sold to qualifying Stanford affiliates, so if you qualify the campus is a great place to live. There are plenty of young families and the kids get to go to Palo Alto schools. However, the land is owned by Stanford and leased to Stanford affiliates so you own the house, but not the land and can only sell to someone associated with Stanford.
Palo Alto, which surrounds Stanford, is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, but home prices are high, and lots are small. However, since the weather is so great you will spend lots of time outside so the small house may not feel so small. It is very different from the midwest. I suggest you check out to get a feel for the area.

I don't know if the agent will get in trouble, but please give, at the very least a courtesy to the first agent and let them know you have moved on without them.

If you end up purchasing the home you visited with the first agent, and the 2nd agent represents you in the transaction, the 2nd agent should have to pay a referral fee to the first agent for procuring the home you found.

I have one question for you Hex, do you believe in Karma? If so, please do the correct thing. Life is too short.

Craig's list is the best place for rentals.
Also try the local papers - Palo Alto Weekly and Palo Alto Daily - they have web sites too.

Good luck.

Hi Karen,

What is your price point? Where is your job going to be? There are so many options in the area.
