KRISTA BELL answered:
Hi there, Darryl,

I hate to give you such a political response here, but agents are not legally allowed to provide clients with information on the safety of neighborhoods (other than to say some neighborhoods are more desirable than others). I would be happy to send you some information on the 92110 community - it's an interesting zip code which houses part of Mission Hills, Point Loma and Bay Park/Bay Ho - and I do a lot of business in those areas.

Your best bet - to satisfy your own safety requirements - is to check out sites like Crimestoppers and Megan's Law, enter the address of the property, and decide for yourself whether you would be comfortable living in a particular area. Doing a drive-by of the property during different times of the day may also help.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if I may be of further assistance. Best of luck to you.

Warm regards,
Krista Bell, REALTOR

Jim Fishinger answered:

If I understand you correctly, you are interested in the crime in this area. You can get help on this from the San Diego Police Department. They can provide statistics relative to other areas to give you perspective. You may want to check the database for locations of sexual offenders in the area as well. Unfortunately no area is devoid of crime and when I've checked the database in areas I consider safe over all, None has been without sex offenders within a modest radius. You are wise to do your homework ahead of time and then to take reasonable precautions to protect yourself and your family. ... more

Well Ma'am,

We always need nice neighbors like you. If you want to live on the beach, do it! because you only live once, unless you believe in reincarnation and come back as a cat with all its lives, but that is another subject.

As REALTORS, we cannot comment on "safe", but here is the link. When are you coming to San Diego? Lets talk to see if it is feasible for you to buy.

Sasha Harvey answered:
Hi Tess:

Yes, the Seven Oaks community is regarded as a pretty safe neighborhood. I have walked there in the evenings and did not feel any type of concern. That being said, crime can occur even in the safest of areas.

Please let me know if you should need any further assistance or need any other specific information about Seven Oaks or any other communities in San Diego.

I can be reached via phone/email at your convenience.

All the Best,

Sasha Harvey

Are you looking for a house or a condo? You can get a one bedroom condo downtown or a small house in Poway. I suggest meeting with a Realtor to discuss what you are looking for. Let me know if you need any assistance.

Jason Fogelman answered:
I actually sold a property in that area less than a year ago, with those same high tension wires behind the house, and the big SDGE power grid station across the street from this property. We had SDGE come out and do their tests, and then the guy explained it the best he could.

It's about ambient energy, and whether low amounts over a long period of time are more harmful or less harmful than short bursts such as hairdryers (his example). The truth is, they don't know! I don't recall the measure of units for the energy, but the number was under 10 on the property, and I believe in a hairdryer it's several thousand for short intervals of time it's being used.

Ambient energy is also higher in cities because everything is so close together. My client felt comfortable enough to buy the property and he's quite happy there. That's the best answer I can give to your question.

Best regards,

Jason Fogelman

You are correct with your assumption....every large city has its issues.

When it comes to crime and safety the best resource for accurate information is often the local police department. They have access to the most current information and are generally willing to be helpful.

Good luck with your move.....

Patti Phillips answered:
Dave, There are a number of areas that could work well for you. Of course, the first thing we need to know is your budget. I am unclear, are you planning to rent here for a year? Or buy here, and rent your Seattle home out for the year?

We need to know your budget for buying or renting, and go from there.

Encinitas is coastal and known for good schools. The school systems mentioned by MaryAnn are also good. Give us a bit more information and we can be of better help to you.

I'm happy to help any way that I can.
