You should find an agent in the area that handles short sales and will be able to clue you in when one is coming up on the market. Many of the foreclosures have rules that the first 10 days can only entertain offers by owner occupiers. Also if you have a buyers agent, they will perhaps send out mailers to owners in that area. Sometimes other investors need to do trades when they deplete their scheduled depreciations, so I encourage you to get an agent. I'm sure there's a lot right here! ... more

Check with local realty offices, or work with an agent; check local print media for by owner rentals, always verify ownership before exchanging any money; word of mouth, etc.

Hi Sk,

The best place to reference parking at the Metro North Rye Station is the following link:

http://mta.info

From home page, you need to click on Metro North Railroad on the right hand side of the page. Then click on "stations" under useful links and then scroll down to Rye. On the Rye Metro North Station page you will find information on station parking.

Hello, My name is Mary McElroy and I am an agent in Rye, NY. I would venture to say that most inventory for this year's "Spring market" is already listed for sale. In the past years the most homes become available in April and through mid-May. (prior to Memorial Day weekend). Additional properties will come on based upon individual seller circumstances. I will be happy to share up to the minute available properties and market stats to you.

I can be reached at 914-980-4583 or via email @ mmcelroy@houlihanawrence.com.

Hi Allison, I understand your concern. I grew up and still live in Rye Brook (next town over) and would be more then happy to help eduacte you on the surrounding areas and what your money will buy. I specialize in helping first time buyers get focused. As for Rye, yes it is one of theose towns that retains its value. That part of the county along with areas like Larchmont you tend to get less sq footage for the money. Rye is highly sought after for many reasons, the commutation to the city, the quaint strip of purchase street, along with many other factors. You can definitely get homes in the range you mentioned, it mostly depends on your search criteria.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to setup up a brainstorming session, no strings attached. As agents we are restricted form talking about schools. We can be the source of the source and guide you with the many resources available to buyers.

Sincerely,

Victoria J. "Vicki" Farrington answered:
Dear Adam,
I have two children who are young professionals. Right now Rye is in transition welcoming new businesses to the area. The Rye Grille restaurant is being rebuilt to a larger more modern facility and The High Street Road House (also a restaurant) is under new management. There are more places in White Plains which is about 15-20 minutes from Rye and is becomming a mini Manhattan. I will check the status on some of the Co-ops and Condos in the area and get back to you if you would like.

Regards,

Vicki Farrington
