Hi Vet,
I don't handle any rental properties, but here are a few caveats:
1. Do not do any transactions over the Internet. That is, do not pay anyone anything until you see the actual apartment.
2. Verify who the legal owner is. Send me the address you want to check and I will send you the name of the legal owner. Unless there is some unusual arrangement, the lease will have the owner's name, or the rental agency representing the owner.
3. Good rentals go fast. Fill out an application and keep it handy. Make a few copies. If you find a place you like, take it.
4. Make sure you have dedicated parking for the entire length of the lease.
5. Refer to #1 when in doubt.
