My NC Homes Team answered:
Only you can really answer this question, as someone who lives here in Durham I would tell you that the crime rate here for a city this size is actually among the lowest in the state. I have had many clients attend NCCU and have never heard from any of them that they have had any problems. I would also anticipate that with a group of younger teens there will be chaperons with them at all times and this would be a wonderful experience for her. ... more

Hi Docbgg!

Unfortunately, we cannot (as Realtors) speak of crime stats relating to safety. You can check this on cmpd.org's website. I suggest that you drive this area during different times of the day and on weekend. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

Thanks!
Debbie

As a Realtor we are not allowed to steer a client toward one neighborhood or away from a neighborhood. We can provide you with links of places to visit to get the information but as a realtor we are bound by a certain code of ethics and this question violates that.

besides, what one person may consider as minor another person could view ti as a major issue for the area. So the best idea is to get the statistics and for you to decide whether it si safe for your children ro not.

The best place to go for thsi information is the Charlotte mecklenburg police department website. Here is a link: http://charmeck.org/city/charlotte/cmpd/Pages/default.aspx. On the drop menu bar on the top go to your safety then click on crime mapping ro crime statisitics....

This should give you the information you are looking for to make a descsion....Wish I could be of more help...

Good and Bad? This is kinda a hard question to answer! I think it depends on what your looking for once you get here. We have lots of things to offer in lots of different areas, most of my clients find its a great town to settle down in and start a family with all the options available for kids. My older retiree clients seem to lean more towards our great medical facilities and the different arts programs offered by the college! As for me I enjoy living in Greenville, I tell people its the "Big" little city with lots of things to do! I guess to sum it up, no matter what your looking for I think Greenville has it to offer! I wish you luck on your move and if you need help with specitif needs please feel free to call on my services, you can find out more by visiting www.JesseAllenHomes.com ... more

My NC Homes Team answered:
Not sure what your question is, however you're looking at a short sale so the price means nothing it's an imaginary price the Seller hopes the bank will accept. Personally I won't even waste my time on short sales unles the bank has pre-approved them and this isn't the case with this home.

Secondly the home is located a short distance from commercial areas on Holloway Street and without knowing what you're looking at it's hard to know if perhaps you're not seeing crimes related to shoplifting etc.

This is not one of Durham better areas but it's alos not one of it's worst. Durham is a city and like any city it has crime, though for a city it's size it enjoys one of the lowest crime rates in the State.
