A CO is required everywhere in NJ. At least, they want to be sure there is a working CO Detector, Smoke Detectors and Fire Extinguisher. It is the owners responsibility to make sure this is performed.

Some towns do a more extensive inspection. To find out more, give town hall a call.

Ouch.....the real dilemma here is being able to prove who is responsible for the infestation outbreak. You could easily claim the tennant caused the problem while they could take the position that their problem was caused by your neglect and the previous renters.

Our advice, avoid the hassle but when the lease is up.....perfect time to raise the rent and recover your expense over time.
