Ii really depends on the location. Some homes are part of an association where the property near the lake is owned by the association. Even if you do not own the land if you have received permission to construct the pier/dock the public should not be able to use it. The best thing to do is to check with the Shafer Freeman Lakes Envirnmental Conservation Corporation. "SFLECC" That is the organization that owns the land around the lakes and the land under the water. They also issue the construction permits for construction on both lakes. ... more

This is just my opinion, many sellers sell for different reasons or a combination of reasons. A lot of purchases made on Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman are for second homes. When people purchase a second home many things can happen to help them make a decision to sell such as :economy, health, financial situations ,relocation or they may feel like the kids have grown and they don't have time anymore, there are so many reasons sellers make their decisions. Shafer and Freeman are great places whether it is your primary home or your getaway home. If you are interested in seeing any of these homes that are on the market any agent in my office would be happy to assist you. Just give Stefaniak Real Estate a call @
