When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Consider working with an agent; or check local print media for by owner rentals, always verify ownership before exchanging any money; word of mouth, etc.

The Concourse is a rapidly developing neighborhood and along with the gentrification comes a new mind set of progressiveness. Some of the poshest neighborhoods in the world have some unexpected crime statistics unfortunately so it is very subjective. As a listing agent I can only speak about my own neighborhood where I have my listings and I have done my research and discovered that the residents feel pretty safe living in those parts. My suggestion to you would be to spend some time in the neighborhood and around and see how comfortable it makes you feel as no amount of convincing on my end will make you feel any more confident unless you experience it for yourself.
