To me a HOA ruins anyplace you would consider. You need to define your wants and needs to get a reasonable reply. That includes price of housing. It varies dramatically across the country. Your by-laws will bind you to the will of the home owners association, which can make no exceptions. The recourse that individuals have in this situation is to become more involved in the politics of the HOA, speaking out on issues that concern you.

Unfortunately, living in a community with an HOA will involve necessary fees that the reduction of usually translates into a noticable change in the local environment and/or amenities. These entities often take the easy route, increasing fees as opposed to making nesessary adjustments or cuts.

Our recommendation, get involved and be heard..........

A real dilemma. I don't know that there are any, but you should meet with an attorney to discuss all your legal options. It may be that keeping the HOA engaged in policing the owner and tenants is your only option. ... more
