The best way to get information on the crime rate in a particular area is to contact the local law enforcement officials in that area. Rise Real Estate practices fair housing and does not give out personal opinions on anything that could be considered steering or misleading. I would be happy to help you get in touch with the proper autorities. I hope you have found this information helpful and good luck. Thanks, Trish Hagin ... more

Real estate agents are not allowed to comment on whether or not a neighborhood is good or bad. That is research that you would need to do on your own. There are a Federal Fair Housing Laws that prohibit that from happening. It is up to the individual to make their own determination about a specific area. Should a real estate agent comment on such a thing, it could be steering which is a prohibited act.

Determining how good or bad a school is, or how crime is, or anything else similar needs to be researched on your own.

Good Morning Mggaleton,
I am 70 and live in the 36301 zip code. We feel comfortable in the area we live in and have not had any safety issues. Just keep in mind 36301 covers a large area. If within your price range Stone Creek Landing is a gated community offering total maintenance of the exterior. You purchase the interior. Homeowners association dues are $170 a month and includes homeowners insurance. You would need to insure the contents.
Amenities offered include club house with game room, excercise room, and swimming pool. In addition they have walking trails and four fish ponds.
Dothan offers two excellent medical facilities, low property taxes, mild climate, and low insurance rates.
Feel free to give me a call 334-701-1102 anytime.
Thanks,
Bobby

What crimes are you referring to? Your best source of info on crime statistics would be the precinct for that neighborhood. It's kind of like if you had a real estate question, would you ask a policeman? No, you would ask a real estate ago, so it just makes sense that if you have a question about crime, that you direct your question to law enforcement. ... more

Probably the best thing is to call or go by the Police station on Highland Avenue across from the fire dept. station next to Western supermarket and ask the question. I suspect that they will have a very good handle on those statistics.

Also, you can drive through the neighborhood you are interested in, at a time when residents are likely to be outside, and just stop a few of the neighbors and ask them what they know. Usually, you'll find someone outside after work hours or on weekends.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors.

I dont think there's any data out there that is going to narrow the crime rate down that far. You could go to www.al.com and do a search. The are some stats on City Data of the local Huntsville Madison County Chamber site that will give you general crime rates. My best bet is to recommend you take your car to Express Oil Change on Madison blvd. and ask Bear to take a look at your car (shameless plug for my husbands business) and try to keep reliable transportation in the future. ... more
