The same answer will apply for all of California.

The best thing to do is to contact the local police department with the address of a home you're interested in to check on the criminal activity. You could also check Megan's Law website.
In addition, check the Megan's Law web site. Neighborhood scout is also helpful.

I hope this helps,

Rocky

Hello Shebagd,
Here is a link to crime data in Modesto:

http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ca/modesto/crime/

It's always a good idea to inquire with the local police department there too. That way you will have the most updated crime information in the area.

I suggest you drive around the neighborhoods to get a feel for it if you are in the area. Talk to people you see outside and hear their comments.

Good luck to you!

You may want to check with the Modesto police department on the activity in the niegborhood as well as check Megan's Law website. Also knock on a few doors and get aquinted with the niegboors or you can visit the niegborhood at certain hours (after work, in the morning when folks leave to work) to get an idea of who you be living next to. Do the research. It will be worth it.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Rocky

In order to determine a value, review comps with your agent, recently sold similar properties in the immediate area, see what the data suggests and go from there....

Hello Zoraida

Unfortunately we (Realtors) are not allowed to comment in regards to neighborhood due to a legal stand point. What I tell my clients is the best advise I can give you, "Drive around the area during the week, at night, on the weekends ,etc. because you not just investing in the home your living in."

If you are not from Modesto, It might seem like a pain to drive around the area you want to move to but well worth it.

Good Luck

If I can be of any other assistance, feel free to call me on my cell phone 209.204.3963

Hi Tina,

The best thing to do is check directly with the local Police Department. Also check with http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/

In addition, visit the location at certain hours on your own. I always encourage my clients to spend time in the neighborhood and if possible meet a few neighbors. Understand they can sometimes be complainers.

Absorb all the information, disseminate the truth from fiction and then make the right decision.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

What defines a safe neighborhood is subjective, as everyone's standards are different. I would recommend you obtain local police activity reports, and talk to the neighbors in the area you look to buy in. I always suggest to my clients to visit the neighborhood at different times of the day, different days of the week, and just sit in your car for a few minutes and observe...or even try to talk to some of the neighbors you might find outside or taking a walk...they're always your best source of information. ... more

I'd start with the local phone company who services your area. Try using the link below to find the phone number for the phone co. or try using Google or Yahoo. If there is any marking, serial number, etc. on the box be sure to have it handy when filing a report along with the property address. Best wishes - Ted ... more
