You can use any mortgage lender you choose. I would call Dorathe Catlin at PHH Mortgage. Her phone number is (209) 261-4320. She has helped me out a lot and been my lender for the past 3 years. She will help you get pre-approved (if you are not already) and tell you what amount you are pre-qualified for. If you need any help finding a home, I would be happy to help you!

Since no link is visible. either directly contact the listing agent, or any local agent/realty office can also help, they all have access to the same information. As for any safety concerns, your best source of information is the local police department, therefore contact/visit with all your questions; if unfamiliar with the area, do visit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors; real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

It sounds like you have treated the Realtor as an enemy; it will be hard to accomplish anything now:
You will probably have to use small claims court and you have lost the keys-for-cash deal.

Good luck and may God bless

My advice to people who want to go in to a new area is: GO YOURSELF. Drive around, stay the night if you have to and drive some more the next day. One mans idea of good, may or may not be someone else's. Also, look at some homes in the area on the web, then go out and visit those homes. You might see a home that you like, but when you look around the area, you lock the doors and drive away. ... more

rental websites in the local area give you an idea what the going rate is. Your rent should cover all your expenses to break even unless you are willing to pay out of pocket to cover any shortage and pick up as the market turns and your equity increases. When dealing with students, you need to be prepared for the summer months when the students leave, hence a frequent turn over. ... more
