Chapel Hill and Carrboro definitely have the "feel" that you've described here - and there are PLENTY of areas that don't have a college feel at all. One thing to keep in mind - property taxes inside Chapel Hill school districts are significantly higher than those for Orange County or Chatham County. You may also want to consider some communities just south of Chapel Hill, inside county limits.

If you are not the owner of the property and are accepting a fee or managing the property for a fee you nedd a real estate brokers license in the satate of California. A sales license isn't good enough.

Penny,

SInce you are looking to rent or house sit, I think the best place to look is craigslist. You can also put a free ad yourself as to what you're looking for there. In the Bay Area virutally anyone with these kinds of situations (unless they want to do the house sitting privately) will post it there - www.craigslist.com

Best Regards,

Tonie, I think a lot of property managers (large corporate property managers) use rent.com. If you're not getting any useful leads, discontinue use of the service. I will tell you that craigslist is the best resource for putting your property up for rent. Hopefully, you may have tried that route. If you have an upper valued property, you may want to look for a property manager to help you out. ... more
