Your agent should be able to help you to ask for extension on the time required to get the 30 yrs fix. If that's not an option, better go with the 7/1 ARM or cancel the contract before the loan contingency date. ... more

You can also put this on housing wanted on craigslist. That is a bigger site for homeowners to list rentals.

You are looking at $200-$250K for a studio if you can find one. Right now there are none on the market. I searched Redwood City, Menlo Park and San Carlos. There are a few 1 bedrooms, the lowest begining the unit on Claremont in Redwood City at $189K. It's a 1/1, 733 sf. monthly HOA is $400. If you are seriously looking to buy a condo, let me know. This is my market and I'd be happy to help you. Feel free to search for property on my web site. ... more

Brandon Denman answered:
Hi Sarah,

There is a great new townhome development call the Preserve by KB Homes. There is a lot of information on their site http://www.kbhome.com/Community~CommID~00650485.aspx

Not sure what your price range is as well. If you can give an idea of price range and # of beds and baths you need, sq footage, etc., then I would be more than happy to search around for you for places that would not only fit your criteria, but also be a nice complex. Feel free t contact me if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Brandon Denman - Realtor, CDPE

Pauline Wiles answered:
This is certainly not an expert opinion, but I live elsewhere in Redwood Shores and liquefaction is a very real concern for the whole zip code. Every earthquake is unique and quite how this land will behave, nobody can truly predict. Our house was built in '84 so came through '89 OK, but the next big one may be a different story. Essentially, my husband and I weighed up the risks of Redwood Shores against the many benefits of living there, and decided it's a trade-off we are willing to make.
The KB Preserve is indeed very appealing, but I'm afraid you may simply have to judge whether the upsides to you of living there are worth the risks. Best of luck and I hope you find a home you love.

The Laugesen Team answered:
Dear Mary,

Interview with all of them, I have been in the business for 22 years and I am basically at the same location as day one, first pick an area where you want to sell, usually where you live and interview with all of those real estate companies that have a presence in your neighborhood. I did look for a company with a training department when I first started, not sure if any of them have that anymore however it was helpful....Maybe you can work under another agent who is looking for team members for the first couple of years...Good luck, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me...

Check your HOA rules first to see if renting is allowed--if so any local agent can help you determine a rental price--and for maximum exposure consider listing with an agent.
