Water quality in Austin is good. There are some areas like Pflugerville where you will want a water softener because of the lime. But overall much better than Los Angeles for example.

Abilene is a great West Texas town. I grew up in Midland, but visited Abilene ALOT because my cousins lived there. I am very familiar with the local community there and would be happy to refer you to a good agent. Let me know if I can help you in any way at all.

Hi Kezzalynch,

If you don't have any pets, and it's just short term, consider acting as a house manager. You get the benefit of really low rent, often times the home is already furnished, but you do have to put up with the home being shown to prospective buyers. That is, the home is for sale, staged by a third party, who also puts home managers in the homes to make them looked lived in. Besides the inconvenience of having to show the home, you also have to keep it relatively spotless.

If that doesn't float your boat, consider hooking up with a short term rental property, but be prepared to pay hotel rates (pretty expensive). Try HomeAway.com for some good options.

Or you might find an extended stay contract at a downtown hotel, or near downtown hotel, might also have side benefits, but be of similar cost. You get made service, but the space would be pretty limited compared to a house rental.

What would help is knowing the size of the space you're looking for.

Think of Trulia as an Internet Magazine; displaying pictures and figures of houses for rent and for sale:
Trulia is not a Real Estate Office, they employ no Realtors nor Brokers.

If you want to Buy or Rent a house, you need to contact an Agent in that city to represent you.

Good luck and may God bless

Lake Travis and Eanes are the exemplary ISD's in the Austin area. There are also other areas where the ISD overall is not exemplary but some of the schools are such as Steiner Ranch and River Place. Circle C is a nice neighborhood and in my opinion not too suburban. If you would like to discuss your home search further, please email me at kristee@theleadersrealty.com or call me at 512-695-5144.

Traffic will be reverse commute from some areas back to Cedar Park. Now, when you compare commute times and traffic and around Austin with the DC Suburbs, we're going to be relatively light both in terms of actual traffic volumes and times for average commutes.

Now, specifically to your question. I'd need some more details on your desire to be closer to 'the city' There are plenty of areas in Central Austin that you could look at along the Loop 1 / Mopac Corridor. I'll place a link to show homes between $600 - $750K in this area below.

Another choice would be to look along RR620 (River Place or Steiner Ranch) or in Twin Creeks if you wanted to fore go the closer to Austin requirement.

Please let me know if you have any questions. 512-522-8470

Both boards are charged with helping acquire and utilize affordable housing for low income groups. Most people thinkg of the Housing authority as the section 8 administrators and facilitators. The second group, the SHFC is responsible for issuing the bonds and utilizing tax credits to facilitate purchase of land and help construction by issuing credits for low income housing, as well as administering the bonds they set up for assistance to low income purchasers for down payment and/or closing cost assistance.

Why does "trulia" ask these questions? The answer is no, Texas code rules this. Austin has code to prevent firing guns within city limits (as does virtually any town or city), but doesn't have any additional requirements that i've ever heard of, and I have been through the licensing courses.

I'm sorry but I don't know or never heard of this builder. But I would like to recommend my husband on this project. We are from Austin born and raised. He has a small business in roofing and remodeling. My husband takes pride in his work. He is very good at keeping the cost down. He can build your project. He built our home on an empty lot.
