Being a college grad is commendable. Congrats! The availability and ease of procuring a job is directly related to your major. A BS in electrical engineering will have a much easier time finding employment than a BA in history for instance. It boils down to expectations and patience based on your degree. Good Luck!

I remember my renting years long ago and there is a reason why people want to buy a house. Renting gets old quick for many reasons and one of the big ones is living in such close proximity with so many people that are rude, crude and loud. Renting and frustration go hand and hand.

When you are interested in finding a great property at a great price give me a call and I will be glad to help you leave your obvious frustrations in the dust. Now is the best time to look for a home and a real deal.

Hi Joe,
SAT is a large airport. I am not sure how easy it is to tell how often a certain flight path enters an area. I haven't heard of too many complaints about there being too much airport noise.

What I can tell you is that the 78248 area is a very nice area in the North East. Most homes in that area are well established and the price range runs from lowest $142,000 to over 1 million.

If you are looking for a particular type of home, feel free to let me know and I can certainly send you what is currently available in that area. Once you find exactly the type of home you want, I could definetley call the airport and find any information on flight paths for you :o). Hope to hear from you soon!

Crime rate would definitely be a better question for Google. :)

However, an even better way to learn more about a neighborhood, is to talk with the neighbors.
They can give you insight into a neighborhood, that you could never get from a website or even a Realtor.

In regards to school district you can look at the NISD website for more info on specific schools.

I actually focus much of my time in that area of town, if you need any assistance feel free to contact me.

There are so many. I am not sure where to start. It all depends on what kind of atmosphere & ammenities you want. There are several Active adult communities here: Independence Village, Rosehart, The Del Webb community and the small town of Boerne that made AARP's top places to retire. I would love to give you more detailed information based on your lifestyle. When you are ready, visit my website or call me on my cell at (210) 365-6950. Best of luck! Sheri ... more

The first community that comes to mind is the Pulte Del Webb community in far west San Antonio (near Sea World). This area is designed for active 55+ living (as I recall one of you would have to be 55 or older).

Other than that, there are a number of communities in and around San Antonio that might work, but quiet would be a function of your immediate neighbors as much as the neighborhood itself. Your best bet is to do extensive looking and specific investigation of homes you like.

My experience with buyers from California has been that "affordable" has not been a concern as property values here tend to run about 30% - 50% of those in most areas of California. With a price range you'd like to consider I can provide you info on specific homes that will give you a better feel for that.

There are crime reports for locations within the city that will tell you what's currently going on, but you have to be careful how you read them as any area might experience a burst of activity when it is typically pretty dormant.

I've seen national reports that show San Antonio as generally a low crime area as well as some that show it as high. Go figure!

Go to and select "Community Reports". Enter a zip code of interest (I think the Del Webb is 78253) then enter a "Comparison Zip" (maybe one you are personally familiar with). Then click on "View Community Report". Scroll down the page and you'll see a selection box titled "Show". From there you can select a variety of views, including Crime.

To be honest, such database driven comparisons have their own weaknesses, but provide at least a starting point for understanding a new area.

Hope this helps and I'd be glad to assist you if you'd like an agent in the area!
