Public transportatoin in Houston is always do-able as in most large cities, but as I suggest in Texas, it is best to own a car. That is unless you live very close to work/school. Houston is so large that it prevents you from enjoying much of what the city has to offer.

The trains run 24 hours a day. I live close to them . . . and of course I have many buyers ask the same question. A while back I called to find out if there was a schedule. Amtrack has a schedule (it's not punctual), but the freight trains do not. They run after they are loaded at the ship channel. Ships arrive and depart at all different times of day. The train does pass through there several times a day (and night). But that is not the big issue. The big issue is the expansion of Hwy 290 (Hempstead Highway to older timers that live in Cy-Fair). The traffic noise from the freeway might be a bigger concern.

Stone Gate is a wonderful community. But I would recommend staying a few blocks south of the northern edge of the neighborhood. The other homes will buffer some of that noise. Here is a link to the community with more information.

Good luck and let me know if I can assist you.

There is some heavy traffic during peak periods but if you can live and work in the same area traffic is not much of a problem

Houston has METRO bus service fulfilling the needs of most of the city. Some peripheral areas are not serviced as well. The city is growing so rapidly, the public transportation system has trouble finding new routes fast enough. ... more
