This home sold on January 31st for $128,000 after 62 days on the market. If you have any concerns about crime, I suggest that you not consider purchasing a home in that area. If I can help you find a property that would work for you, please get in touch. Your question about gang-related activity should be directed to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Dept.

Hello Amy!

The most reliable source for crime activity in a particular area is your local police department.

For your information, you can check the address listed on www.crimereports.com. This site will give you a recent list of criminal activity for a particular address, zip code, city, etc. Again, the most accurate source is always your local police department.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks!

This question should be addressed to the Houston Police Dept. Gang Unit. Realtors don't keep track of such information.

go to the bottom of the Trulia listing and there is a map with tabs on it, click the Crimes tab and it shows a map.

Check out Crimespot.com or Houston police dept's website, too.

Houston is so big and diverse that even though we are not in the top 10 for crime in the country,

see http://money.cnn.com/gallery/real_estate/2013/01/23/dangerous-cities/?fb_action_ids=4040295215679&fb_action_types=og.recommends&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

it is still best to check with the locals, drive thru the neighborhood at different times of the week or day to see how the neighbors take care of their property, how the traffic is, and just the general vibe of the neighborhood.

Good luck, and if you need a Realtor, check out my website and send me a messege.

If you can provide me with some additional information, we can certainly find a rental unit that will work for you:

Budget; type of home (single family, townhome, condo, etc.); bedrooms/bathrooms; any pets; any smokers.

Please call or e-mail me, so we may begin to search for a great place. I look forward to hearing from you.

Good Morning ...

Realtors cannot comment on whether an area is "safe." Here is a link to reported criminal activity within Zip Code 77008 ...

I also suggest that you drive through the area at several different times of day, as well as on the weekend. You might also want to talk with some residents ... they're very frank about where they live (good or bad) and will provide some great information.

I'd be happy to work with you ... and as a tenant, you would incur no cost, since my fees would be paid by the landlord. If I can be of further assistance, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Cindy,

In general, Realtor cannot discuss crime as do not keep the data. Please take a look at this web site with the Houston Police Dept. http://mycity.houstontx.gov/crime/ Hopefully that will provide you some good information. Also speak to neighbors to see if they have any information.

Good Luck!

Hello Susan,

As realtors we are not allowed to give opinions about the safety or crime of any property. One of the best ways to find out would be to physically drive around the neighborhood at different times so see if you are comfortable with what you see and feel. I see you are writing from Temple, TX and it may not be easy to drive down here any any given time.

Check out www.crimereports.com. It will give you some idea of what you might be looking for.

Give me a call or send me an email and I can give you more information about the properties you are interested in. I will also educate you on the transaction process if you are interested.

Hello Mr. Hamilton,

See if this link helps you to determine the crime for the neighborhood you are interested in.

As real estate agents we are not allowed to discuss or give our opinion on certain issues and crime is one of them.

On a random search I found some restaurants and groceries around the neighborhood.

You seem interested in this neighborhood - are you looking to move in soon? Do you need help locating a home? I can help.

April,

You did not mention the neighborhood name. However, if the home is in the Houston area, check out the Houston Police Departments web site. This might give you some real time information.

http://mycity.houstontx.gov/crime/

Realtors do not keep this crime data and cannot honestly answer if one area has higher crime than another. Look at the good sale of homes (we CAN help you with that), good schools, etc along with the data from the crime site and you will be on your way to purchasing a great home in a great neighborhood. Let us know if we can help.

Good Mornng, Kim ..

As Realtors, we can't comment on whether any area is "safe." I advise my clients to begin by researching crime statistics on sites such as ... http://houstoncrimemaps.com/. This will provide an overview of recent police activity in the area. You might also want to drive through the neighborhood at different times of day, just to get a feel of what it's like to live there. Perhaps most important, though, is to just stop and talk to residents of the area ... believe me, they'll tell you all about it, good or bad. Many people just don't think of this ... I believe it to be a most valuable resource.

You bring up perhaps the most important step in the buying process ... you can change pretty much everything about a home except where it is. I know the area well, and will be happy to help you. If you'd like additional information, please feel free to contact me at ... (713) 213-6350 ... or ... al@algeffon.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
