Welcome to Fort Worth!
There are mnay nice neighborhoods for a young couple like you to live in. Specific school districts may not be an issue for you yet, but the best schools also set the best prices for re-selling a property, and some day you will want to move on, and sell your house. The best overall area in Tarrant County is the Northeast quadrant, and it is called the "Mid-Cities" because it is centrally located in between FW and Dallas. It is close to the DFW airport and there are some nice shopping malls scattered throughout the area.
Based on the qualifying numbers you have given, there are many nice homes available in the neighborhoods of the Mid-Cities. I have been selling houses here for over 32 years, and it is a great place to live! I could go on and on with a list of good restaurants, etc.
Why don't you contact me personally, and then I'll be able to send you some details and photos of houses that fit in your price range. Whenever you are ready, we can go out and tour a few homes to see what you think of them. And then when you are ready to buy one, I'll help you through the whole process, making sure there are no surprises for you along the way. Tell me a little more about where you are now, and when youi hope to arrive here in FW.

Best regards,

Rick DeVoss

FW is a great town with tons of things to do entertainment wise. I could recommend several areas but that's hard without knowing a little bit about what you desire in a home/ neighborhood. Established vs Newer neighborhood. Kids? Activities? Commute. All these things need to be considered before narrowing it down. Send me am email and I can recommend some areas and we can start thinking of areas and as the time gets closer I will start sending properties for you to look at and eventually get you in to the neighborhood you decide upon

Amy: this is a safe neighborhood. This particular block has many families with small children, as well there are several single adult only homes. A nice, quiet neighborhood, yet a friendly place to be! the homes are well kept. The last house to be re-modeled is the one I just purchased and I am in the process of a complete remopdel, including wiring and plumbing. ... more

What list? If it is a listed house, on the MLS, you can call any Realtor and ask them to show it to you.

Dave Buske answered:
Hi Kurt,
A home is taxed on the appraised value set by the county appraisal district using the combined tax rate of the schools, city, county, etc. The value may be appealed if one can show that the value is too high. When you purchase a home such as a foreclosure, often times the current tax appraised value is much higher than the purchase price and then you can appeal the value of the home for the next taxing cycle. If your friend's taxes made a large jump, he might be able to appeal the value of his home if it seems appraised too high.
I hope this answers your questions but if not please let me know and I will try to answer them

You are right there is not much on the market. I have run a search on the MLS for this area and only came up with about 3 lots. If you would like I can set you up a personal website that will allow you to see what is on the market. It will also update you of newly listed lots and changes, such as price, to existing ones. Please email me exactly what you are looking for and I will send you a link to the website. Thank you.

Josh Thomas answered:
The seller can retain mineral rights if it is stipulated in the deed and the contract. Otherwise, the default agreement is to transfer all interest in the land to the center of the earth.

If you are talking about a single unit being sold, then the seller may have never owned mineral rights to begin with. They own the space in which they inhabit and a percentage of common areas. It is likely that the condo developer holds any mineral rights, or has passed them on to the owners in equal portions which may be bound to the land.

This part of Real Estate can be confusing and very inconsistent. I would check the deed.

Good Luck!

Depends....depends on what you consider best and worst. Also the question does not state it, but I'd guess it is because you are trying to find the best place to buy. This might also depend on if you have children or not and what price range you want to buy. Southlake is nice, so is Colleyville, Westlake is nice and so is Keller. Those are all in NE Tarrant County. Some people consider Como area in West Ft. Worth and Polytechnic Heights the tougher sections. PH is in SE Ft. Worth. Ft. Worth is a big place though with lots of traffic now and still growing like crazy. Depending on where you will work might also have a bearing on where we would suggest you move or buy. In Como area homes might be $50,000 in Southlake $500,000. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please let me know. ... more
