Lots of great entertainment and nightlife, including the zoo! ... more

The law says Realtors cannot comment on the crime rate. Your best option is the chicago police website clearmap application at http://gis.chicagopolice.org/ that will map crime in any neighborhood. Please note crime is all around us and in the best and worst neighborhoods. I personally would be more concerned about violent crime rather than simple theft.

I would think that just about all neighborhoods would be fine to 'invest' in if you have a 10 year time frame. Most people only have about a 4-5 year time frame and with the market we have been having that might not be long enough. You can contact the police department for crime statistics, but speak with friends/family/co workers to see what they say about any given area. ... more

Have you attended a local CAPS meeting? Check at your local police station for location and times. The CPS crime stats web page is http://gis.chicagopolice.org/. There are various other sites to look at as well such as www.neighborhoodscout.com/il/chicago/crime/ and www.chicago.everyblock.com/crime/.

No matter how much crime you find there to be in your area you will also want to check out the crime list for some area you may think of as "safe" or "better". You may be surprised to find that there is crime anywhere you look.
