Jenny your best bet would be to check with the local police department on crime statistics. Another popular method is to park in teh neighborhood and ask resients or visit neighborhood stores or restaurants to get forst hand stories from people who live there.... more

For some reason the annual reports are a little behind and the last report is 2006. I would recommend looking at the weekly precinct maps and also the crime statistics which allow you to view by neighborhoods over several times of the year.
You can always call the police department and ask for information with in a certain radius.
