Hi there, if you are referring to the Carver/Langston area, it is not metrorail accessible but it does have bus routes. Good news is that in the near future the DC street car for H Street (light rail) will be operational with stops not far from that neighborhood and rail going close to Union Station. ... more

Ms. Robinson,

REALTORS are forbidden to give out certain types of information, particularly information about things such as crimes and criminal activities. It violates our code of ethics, since crime is a random occurrence, and can happen anywhere, at anytime.

But, we are not forbidden to tell you where you can find out this information on your own. DC maintains a very good website, the Metropolitan Police Department Crime Map. It allows you to enter an address and time span, and look at the reported crimes in an area, over various periods of time. Go to: http://crimemap.dc.gov/ and take a look. Compare multiple areas to get a feeling for location, comapring an area you are familiar with, to an area you are not.

As to shopping, and transportation, a good resource is www.walkscore.com. It lists all stores and even gives a score for an area as to its 'walkability'.

I hope this helps.

I think Chevy Chase has a neighborhood feel. The best way for you to tell if it is what you like is to go out there and look around. Talk to the people of Chevy Chase. Bowie is another area that has a friendly neighborly feel to it. I was out there talking to people and people were coming up to me and talking to me. I loved it.

Are you buying? I can help, contact: miekeba@heymannrealty.com

Hi Marciella

As a realtor we cannot tell you about any neighborhood safety, etc. I would recommend looking at the police departments website or giving them a call and asking about the neighborhood.

Good luck!

You should go to the DC schools website to get the general boundaries for the school. Or go to google maps for the address and get a sense of which streets and areas would be in that elementary school area.

Do you have a buyer's agent to help you narrow down your search? If not, I would be glad to be of assistance.

Thanks

As agents we cannot tell you about crime rates but can tell you where to look for this type of information.

Here is the DC Police Departments website which tells you which types of crimes occur when and how frequently.
