My recommendation would be go to the State of Delaware website and search schools and research which districts would best suit you and proceed from there. I would be glad to send you some homes in the Wilmington Area, please provide to me me some details as to your wants and needs in your new home.

HI, Fditjoe!

You & your wife might like the Rockford/Brandywine Creek area of North Wilmington. It's really quite lovely along the Brandywine and Rockford Park definitely fulfills your requirement for a park-like setting. The other area that might fit your needs is in Historic Old New Castle. Some of the houses are along Battery Park which is a historic old park with great views of the Christina River. Many of the houses in this area have been or are being restored and renovated. The streets closest to Battery Park are really quite charming.

If you want to be closer to the water and want to live near the ocean, there is the beach area, Rehoboth, Lewes, and Dewey. Many New Yorkers, folks from the Maryland/Virginia/DC corridor flock there for the low cost of living, the low property taxes, and the ability to get a lot of house for money.

But for a more traditional 'suburban feel', the areas I mentioned above, Brandywine/Rockford and Old New Castle would be your best bets.

If you would like to share your email address with me I can send some listings for you to look over and perhaps help you refine your search. My email is: driffee@psre.com. You can also visit my company website: www.pattersonschwartz.com and personal web site, listed below. By all means feel free to call my direct office line any time: 302-429-7341. I get my messages all day long.

Kind regards,
Diane Riffee

There are a multitude of neighborhoods in Wilmington whose prices are currently above 500K. To escalate beyond the million dollar mark, most of the homes are in the Greenville and Centreville areas right outside of Wilmington. I hope that this helps. Linette,

The best way is probably to search the MLS and see what similar sized lots in the area have sold for. And, of course, you can search the public records and county records. Good luck. ... more
