Dear Eddie:

There are so many factors that come into play it is difficult to answer this question in this forum. I suggest you contact an architect and a real estate attorney in Brooklyn and explain what you are looking to do. You will then be able to get an estimate of how much it would cost and the effort it would entail. Usually you can get some sort of estimate/info with the initial phone call and it will not cost you anything. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Good luck!

Sincerely,

Dear Alison:

Just like what you see in the movies, especially the ones that date back to the 70's. There is never a dull moment and everything goes fast fast fast. Brooklyn has more character than any other place and so do the people who live in the borough. If you can make it here you can make it anywhere and like they say, only the strong survive, and I mean that in a good way.

I am born, bred and raised in Brooklyn, a product of the public school system in Brooklyn and I currently work and live in Brooklyn. There ain't no place like Brooklyn! The borough is so diverse you can spend a lifetime taking it all in. This is why Brooklyn has one of the best real estate markets in the country as well.

Sincerely,

Hello;
I have worked in Fort Greene & Clinton Hill since 1979, then the average floor through rental was $175.00-$200.00 per month in 1979-1980. Of course in those days they did not come with new kitchens, diswasher, washers & dryers. They often had draghty windows. You often could not use a window air conditioners because the screw in fuses could not carry that electrical load.
Now the average floor through apartment is $2,500 - $2,750.00 with updated kitchen bathrooms, electrical and plumbing, washer & dryer in the building etc.
Feel free to call me if you need further information.

Consider working with an agent; check local print media for by owner rentals, always verify ownership before exchanging any money; word of mouth, etc.

Have you called them directly? You could ask for references of current clients. Also, check the states licensing board, most are online.

If purchasing with a mortgage, be aware that a mortgage pre-approval letter is required in order to determine your price range and for any offers to be taken seriously; therefore if you haven't done so yet, do visit with any licensed loan officer to determine qualification. Also consider working with an agent of your own, he/she can provide suitable listings, any necessary information, schedule showings, etc. ... more
