It all depends on your budget. Areas that comes to mind would be Maplewood, Millburn, Union,
Livingston, West Orange, just to name a few. It all depends on budget and the type of rental you
prefer- condo, townhome, single family home, etc. and how far of a commute you are willing to accept.

I'm an active Realtor in both NJ and GA, so if you may need assistance in GA as well, then let me know how I can best you with your relocation needs.

Only your lender can answer this question fully - so ask him/her. But generally my advice in this market is do what they say, provide what they request....all in a timely fashion.

When asking questions about safety and crime, your best information would be from the police
department. I don't think that any town is completely free of crime. You must take precaution
no matter where you live. I have many investors that are looking in East Orange. They want to
repair/fix up the buildings and rent/resell. Hope that this is of some help to you.

My procedure would be to tour your property then create a unique marketing plan to attract tenant procurement for your home.

That is my quick and in a nutshell answer.

Vanessa,

Do you work with buyer's agent? Your agent should be able to advise you what will happen. This way you can decide to bid or move on.

I wouldn't worry about that I do not think the city would throw tenants out. if the city took over the building they would sell it with tenants. The only issue is that if you do have any building issues like water, electric. heat there may not be a landlord around to fix things unless the building has a management company or super. ... more

Some people consider all of East Orange a bad area
It is all relative to what you are comparing it to.
Compared to Harlem East Orange is like Plesantville USA

I know on Munn and S Munn there are some highrise buildings with doorman that are really nice.
Some people will tell not safe and some will tell you it is.

Really are we safe anywhere? Guy got shot yesterday in front of Empire state building.

Pray the God will keep safe where ever you go.

Kamesha,
You could be looking at a listing of a financially distressed property. The current owner may be paying taxes on $200K+ basis for a property that's listed for $60K. Then again, maybe it's a short sale and the list price is artificially low. It's hard to tell without more info. Have a local real estate broker look into the situation for you. ... more
