I am assuming that you are a Realtor asking this questions, Am I right? In that case I suggest you place
this question for discussion with other Realtors instead of in the question and answer section into the
blog section, where Realtors will actually exchange their own thoughts and ideas!!!!
Good Luck to you

Hey, you know - they sell vanilla ice cream and strawberry ice cream.....chocolate, too......so......what works for one person isn't right for the next person. We all have our preferences.

Clearly people are buying and selling homes in all areas, regardless of how the school districts are rated.

Want more house?
Buy in the town that gives you more........more concerned with schools? Buy less house in the higher ranked school district.

There is no right or wrong........decide what your priorities, needs and wants are, and follow that route.

Dear Victoria,

I am sure a broker or leasing agent the specializes in section 8 will respond. You can also check on craigslist. Make sure you put the bachelorhood you are considering moving to and section 8 or Sec 8 in the search field.

Best of luck.

John Juarez answered:
There is not a clear, easy answer to your question. If “bigger” was the answer then why not just have one big room? If more rooms was the answer then why not have lots of small rooms?

A house has to have balance. If you have a large house it may provide space for more rooms – and you seem to be focusing on bedrooms – or decent size. If you want to combine two bedrooms which are small in order to have a larger bedroom suite and you still have four other bedrooms – assuming they are not small – you should not suffer too much in value. But, now you have eliminated buyers who must have one more bedroom than you will have.

Will you house suffer in value compared to a similar house that has one more bedroom? I think there are other aspects of the house that also have to be considered. Is it a large house or simply a house with a lot of smallish bedrooms? Will the resulting change make the house substantially different from other comparable neighborhood houses?

On the other hand, if the change you envision is provide for the great living enjoyment of you and your family in a house in which you expect to spend many years to come, I say “Do what makes you happy”.

It really depends on what kind of house you're looking at. I would consult with a contractor, not an agent, but estimates can be between $120 - $250/square foot in my experience. Are you looking for any special fixer uppers? I can help you find something that is worth remodeling, rather than building from ground up. Let me know if you're interested.

Hi Bob,

A lot of that depends on what you are comfortable with and what you intend to do with it when you aren't in residence. If you are considering renting it out seasonally some associations have minimum lease restrictions, may not allow pets for tenants or have other restrictions.

If I can answer any questions please let me know. Used to live off Rochester & South Blvd before I moved here in '07.

High Radon will affect the home price by about $1500. as that is a ball park remediation price. Once remediation is done, the Radon is not an issue.

So, it sounds if you are looking for a negotiation tool, $1500 is about it. Also, as I understand things in the area, South Brunswick and Somerset have a high level of radon gas in general compared to other areas.

Not a bad thing as this is a natural occurrence that just needs remediation.

Hi, are you looking to buy or rent? Have you considered? Upscale town only minutes north of the Borgata casino. I can't think of a town that has better nightlife than AC. Also, more local, I live in Haddon Twp. Sandwiched between Haddonfield (shopping) and Collingswood (dining), close to Garden State Park and the Cherry Hill Mall (more shopping), and only 9 minute to Philly.

Let me know if you want to talk.
