You can do this by checking with your counties recording office. Try to search for it on the internet since it's public record you can more than likely find out on the internet for free.

Broward County has a website for it. You can go to the Broward County Property Appraisers website or check out this link on Broward County Official Records Search.

This should give you and idea if you have received a Lis Pendens.

You can also call your lender and see when and if they have started to pursue the foreclosure process.

My suggestion before you let your home go into foreclosure is to try and Short Sale your home. I personally know 2 fabulous agents that work Short Sales in the Ft. Lauderdale area. If you need anyone that would help you through this process.

The next suggestion is for you to talk with a lawyer about what is the best option for you and the ramifications of a short sale, foreclosure or Deed-in-lieu.

Then speak with a CPA. As a REALTOR I can not give tax advice. Even if this is your primary home you should talk with a CPA since there can be tax ramifications.

If I can be of any assistance let me know.
