USAA lends to residents of Bexar County. I am not sure whether you have to be a US citizen, but there rates are great.

Wells Fargo is making loans to foreign nationals but require a 30-40% deposit.

Try checking out their website:

Typically it is the local banks that will lend. As others have mentioned, typically need full documentation and good down payment (like 20%). Passport required and legal right to be in US, but not always legal right to work required, but proof of some kind of income. I'd really grill the loan officer first to make sure they have done these types of loans before. I've seen some say yes yes yes, after I warn them and then 2 days before they go crazy saying they did not understand the person did not have this or that type of visa. You might also try Laredo Natioanl Bank or Intl Bank of Commerce,

I would try Laredo National Bank. I have had a few Mexican Nationals that purchased acreage home sites from me and they were able to get it done with 20% down and a passport.

I hope this helps. Sincerely, Brad Gore with Bluegreen Communities - Texas Hill Country Region.

Look for Banco Popular.
I think they were the last ones doing this.... Don't know if they still do.
