Your first step in the home buying process is to get with a loan officer and get pre-approved. Then you know how much you can comfortably afford and you don't waste your time looking at homes out of you price range. Most of the time when you submit an offer you need a pre-approval letter. If you'd like, I could suggest a few excellent loan officers that I have worked with in your area.
Credit score, debt ratio, ability pay down payment of approx. 3.5% or more.
Most potential home buyers IF credit scores are in 500 or less most likely would not receive a loan UNLESS there is a large downpayment.
