Dear P.J.--I just closed escrow on a purchase for a buyer with a home in close proximity to high tension power lines. The important thing is is you are aware of the condition and investigate prior to removing your contingencies. In addition to checking on line, perhaps this would be a good thing to ask your doctor, a professional who would have the answer to your question or could perhaps point you in the right direction for your research.

As a side note, I was born and raised in Los Angeles and for 22 years our home was in very close proximity to very high tension power lines. I'm fine and still kicking and so are my two sisters and even Mom who is now 87.

Good luck--I hope this is helpful.

I sold a home in Folsom that had high voltage wires in the area right behind the property. We had investigated the impact of high voltage wires on health and safety and were unsuccessful in finding evidence either way. That isn't really an answer but to say, there's no clear evidence that it is or is not safe.

I suggest you research it yourself and see what I mean. The studies that we were able to find could not show clear evidence, but there were discussions. Try googling the topic, or put on and see what they say.

The bigger debate for us was whether you could hear the humming sound emitted. I personally couldn't hear it all even when standing right at the end of the property and listening for it. When asking others, some heard it and some didn't. When someone hears it, they might find it an annoyance.
