Question Details

Jessica, Home Buyer in

I have recently looked over my closing papers and have noticed that I paid the seller $5000 for closing fees.

Asked by Jessica, Tue Apr 8, 2008

But I also paid the closing fees of over $6000, and the seller only paid a little over $200. So in the end I paid over $11,000 for closing cost. Who is responsible to pay me back the $5000 I paid to the seller. I would think the closing agent should have noticed. Also Two years after buying the house I had refinanced with a different closing company. That closing company had informed me that the original closing company had still not recorded the deed under my name.

Hi Jessica,

What were the terms of your contract? Did you contact the agent representing you in the transaction and ask about it?. That would probably be your best bet in a situation such as yours.

Every contract is different. Buyers and sellers can agree to whatever terms suit the wants and needs of both parties. The terms must also be acceptable to the guidelines of the lender.

Your REALTOR should be able to clarify the terms of the original contract to you.

Regards.
