Do not bother calling them. Your best bet these days is to stick with the large lenders and banks. Countrywide, Wells Fargo Mortgage, Citi, Chase, etc. If you go with one of these companies, it will save you in origination fees that other mortgage brokers would charge. Also I would look at your local Credit Union. They usually have better rates and lower closing costs than other lenders.
I would also play the lenders against each other to get the best rate. If you have good credit and money for a down payment, you are the type of client lenders are craving right now.
