Home Buying in Fort Myers>Question Details

C Nelson, Home Buyer in Maine

Timing is everything...

Asked by C Nelson, Maine Thu Jan 31, 2008

Thank you all for your replies to my tax question. I coach a college baseball team and have brought them to Fort Myers/Cape Coral for 18 of the last 20 yrs. I have kicked myself many times for not buying a condo/house in the area those first few years before the prices took off outta sight and the cows were replaced with strip malls at the Twins Complex. Now it appears that the prices have dropped almost to the pre rush era, and I am looking to buy. Do you all agree that now is the time? I am probably looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom condo but am open to other ideas. Please also feel free to contact me at muletrain1313@yahoo.com.

As you will hear from others, there hasn't been a better time to buy Florida property in a looooong time. Just don't miss the boat!

It is definitely a buyer's market and so far prices have continued to fall, so it may not be over yet. I agree with Bill. Remember that you can make an offer. It sounds like you've done your homework so you're not walking into this unprepared.

Good luck!

If this is where you want to be and you can afford it without putting yourself in a corner, DO IT. Don't be afraid to make offers. Keep in mind, it is a buyers market, especially in Florida. Location, condition and stability of the regime are somethings to consider. Do your homework. Don't rush into something, but do something. Take advantage of the market and the current drop in interest rates. The day is yours. Good luck.
