Gilbert isn't the small town that it was when I moved here in 1998. Gilbert has the newest ice rink being constructed, riparian preserve at the SE Regional Library, great small town feel in the Heritage District and the Performing Arts Hale Center with all kinds of specialty shops. But step away from Old Town Gilbert and you have the 5th fastest growing town in the US as of 2007!

The new 202 (San Tan Freeway) has opened up retail opportunities, Chandler/Gilbert Community College, new ice rink being built at Crossroads Park (Greenfield Rd/Knox), the one of the best school districts, 3 new hospitals, Big League Dreams Baseball Park (8 fields), Freestone Skate Park and Recreation Center and 5 golf courses just in Gilbert proper.

The whole San Tan retail center and Auto Mall has expanded shopping opportunities with Wescor Malls as well as only a short hop to Mesa and Chandler with the new San Tan Freeway opening up the whole East Valley. Gilbert Parks and Recreation has walking paths connecting all parks and the Rodeo Park is a great opportunity for horse lovers.

There is so much to do in the "Town of Gilbert", but don't let the name fool you, it is a small town feel with city attractions, strong business and great neighbors. But I know that, I live in Gilbert.

CNN Money in 2006 rated Gilbert 16th in the nation of the top places to live.

Gilbert is a great community; just a few months ago a more upscale mall opened up off the new San Tan 202 freeway. The area is very family-friendly; lots of parks and community events throughout the year. There are pockets that are absolutely fantastic, and there are pockets that are good-- it just depends on what your priorities are.

In southeast Gilbert, you have Power Ranch and Seville-- two enormous master-planed golf communities with their own schools and parks. There are some fantastic values-- anything between a 1200 square foot 2br/2ba for around $150k (resale), all the way up to the $1m luxury estate on a golf course. They are still building in Seville. I lived there until 2006.
