Trendy neighborhoods in LA

Asked by Erik, San Francisco, CA Sun Nov 25, 2007

I have a job offer in Pasadena and am looking at what neighborhoods might be a good place to buy. My friends have described my taste in neighborhoods as dirty, but not too dangerous. I tend to like gentrifying artsy areas. (I live in the mission in san francisco currently if that means anything to anyone.) I'm looking to spend between 750k and 1m and would prefer a condo or TIC in an older building with high ceilings. Any advice on what neighborhoods to look at that wouldn't be too much of a commute to Pasadena?

I am an ex-La'er and it sounds like Silver Lake may be what you're looking for. Good luck...it's a great time to buy!

You might want to look at San Pedro. It's not super close but you just shoot down the 110..

If you would consider a home, there is a great area in Los Angeles that is close to Pasadena in Highland Park (Garvanza District). Another area is Mount Washington/Los Angeles that has homes as well. There are lofts in South Pasadena that border Los Angeles. There are several new condo buildings in Pasadena that might be of interest.
