The fact of the matter is that most licensees wait until their 2 years is almost up to take that education. What is sad about this is that the ones who are still working don't need it by that point and the ones who really need it aren't working anymore.
At my real estate school in Fort Myers, we push our newly licensed students to complete their Post-Education as soon as possible because it is in this class where they move beyond the state and federal laws and learn about actually being in business.
As for the Foreclosures and Short Sales, we have a 4 hour continuing education class called "Short Sales, Foreclosures and REO." We realize that further education on these topics is needed, especially in our hard hit area.

However, online technology is advancing, and I also think this is a good tool for further education. I have taken several online courses to obtain additional designations to obtain additional knowledge and skills.
Inexperienced agents need real support that transulates into efficiency and results. Some agents are making it but many would benefit from real insight that makes a difference.
