Hello everybody. Just wanted to let you guys know that Joseph's answer below is really mine. No, I don't have an alter ego. Joseph works in my office and he was signed in on one of the drop in computers that I was using to play on Trulia. I didn't notice that I was answering under his profile. I deleted and reposted one of the answers before I signed out, but forgot to do the same for another answer that I had posted earlier. Once I signed out of Joseph's account, I could not sign back in to delete the answer. I am just mentioning this because of the recent accusations concerning posters with multiple Trulia identities.

Hello Joanne. As already mentioned, you can find out who owns the house now by checking the public records. Public records don't necessarily show if the property is occupied by the owner or if it's rented. If the property is rented, the owner's mailing address may not be publicly available. In my area the owner's mailing address could be looked up by searching for property tax bills, but they recently changed the system to exclude that information from public view to protect the owner's privacy rights.

Diane is correct in that you can personally go to the township's office and search tax records.

You can also search from your own computer. Your county's assessor should have its own website on which property tax records are of public record and searchable.

You can Google your county's tax assessor to pull up the website.

Good luck.
