It might be a good idea, it depends on what is important to you in buying a home. As I see it, the main advantage to the units you're talking about is that they are newer and have decent size. I would ask you to think. What happens in 5-8 years when they are n longer in "just new" condition? Are they located in a good location that if they weren't new, people would buy? Could you define their location as great? Probably not! I would step back from the "wow" factor of these units and analyze the "value" in them. I would also suggest that you buy in the best area that your dollar can buy. Remember, you can always upgrade a unit, but you can't change its location without throwing away a lot of money on the transaction costs and moving.
Buying a condo in Fairoaks and Tasman is not a bad idea. First, it is very close to different high tech companies along North First Street so it may be marketable should you decide to sell or rent later on. Secondly, the condos there are quite nice. Finally, the home associations maintain the exterior of the property, providing you with time to conduct other activities. Let me know if you need help. firstname.lastname@example.org.
