Have any Realtors used radio to market themselves?

Asked by The Hagley Group, Pleasanton, CA Sun Sep 2, 2007

If so, was it successful? Any strategy I should be aware of?

One of my coworkers does a monthly guest spot on a local weekend radio show. Although it is in essence an advertisement for himself, it comes across as a consumer information piece where people can call in, get immediate feedback in a not so intimidating fashion. He has experienced a good deal of success doing this and seems a better investment of time and resources then running an actual radio commercial. There have been agents that have tried this in our area, but it appears they have all cut that form of advertising as I no longer hear them.

However, mortgage offices and brokers run a very large amount of radio ads in our marketplace. And I can't speak to whether or not they are effective, but I suspect behind the scenes there's a lot of egos involved because with each passing month the different commercials refer to their competitor's ads far more then they actually provide any worthwhile information. It's like listening to never ending political campaign ads for lenders, it's awesome! Then again, my son can sing along with some of their jingles, so I guess that is testiment to their effectiveness on some level. ;)

I help top Realtors in North America and Canada use radio effectively in their market place. Many have advanced to being the top agents in their market and within their respective companies. See their comments and details at MW

I have observed a few Realtors in my area that ran ads on the local radio station but I notice they are not sticking with it so I imagine response must not be worth the cost. Or possibly there was great response and the agents either didn't have great websites or were not great at converting the leads.

I hear agents here in Atlanta with Radio. Using your leverage in the market place to get a free slot for market updates would be the way to go. Striaght out advertising on air costs I can't see the return per listing versus cheaper more effective methods. It would be interesting to see the stats.
